Do you require a listening ear? If you do, counselling might be for you!!

It is important to make a clear distinction between basic counselling and professions such as psychotherapy. A basic counsellor is there purely there as a listening facility and DOES NOT offer advice to a client of what to do, but can guide the client into finding solutions for themselves.
Benefits:
  • Basic counselling will provide with the opportunity to discuss your issues with out fear of judgement.
  • It respects your free choice.
  • It allows you time and space to think things through in a calm environment.
  • It empowers you into making your own decisions.
  • Discussing issues in the open can be very healing, and this release can propel you to move forward with your life.

So what is the purpose you may ask?

Sometimes talking to a 3rd party is easier than discussing a situation or problem with close friends, it maybe that you might fear judgement from a friend or the situation is too embarrassing or personal for discussion.

Friend's judgments and opinions and strategies may be based on sound principles in some situations. In actual fact, decisions you make based on others, might not be the correct course of action to take. Opinions are based on prior experience that may have positive or negative connotations attached to them. However, in times of extreme stress or foreboding, opinions from others based on strong emotion could detriment or worsen a situation, rather than heal it or find an appropriate solution to a problem.

Benefits:

  • Basic counselling will provide with the opportunity to discuss your issues with out fear of judgement.
  • It respects your free choice.
  • It allows you time and space to think things through in a calm environment.
  • It empowers you into making your own decisions.
