Relax with a massage

I have recently qualified as an International Holistic Massage Therapist and the technique used is known as Swedish massage. I will be able to provide partial body massages to the foot, head, as well as providing full body massage.
You can either pamper yourself with a massage session, or alternatively, a program could be devised if you have a particular goal in mind e.g. recuperating from an injury.
The treatment is ‘Holistic’ in that it allows me to analyse and get to the route cause/s of various ailments that maybe contributing to your physical discomfort e.g. working at a computer all day, working in offices without natural lighting to name a few. Advice and suitable plan of action will then be constructed to help combat this. (Please note that Psycho analysing is not part of the treatment. In terms of finding the root cause of personal issue, the appropriate authority should be sought).

Massage has been practiced throughout the centuries since the earliest civilisations. It has been used medically as a therapeutic healing treatment and also for invigorating, soothing and beautifying the body. Massage or rubbing is an instinctive act for relieving pain and discomfort, and for soothing and calming.

As early as 3000 BC, the Chinese practiced massage to cure ailments and improve general health. Records of this can be found in the British Museum. Ancient Chinese books record lists of massage movements with descriptions of their technique.

The Greeks believed in the cultivation of a healthy mind and body, which is similar to the 'holistic approach' practiced by many people today. Rituals of bathing, massage, exercise or dancing were practiced by men and women. They encouraged the pursuit of physical fitness and organised regular sporting, gymnastic and athletic competitions. Massage was used before events to improve performance and after events to relieve fatigue and aid recovery. Gladiators and soldiers were massaged before battle to give vigour and promote fitness and health, and afterwards to aid recovery, healing and relaxation.

The basis of the ITEC Massage techniques practiced by Soothe form one of the systems to modern massage. These techniques evolved mainly from a system developed by a Swedish physiologist called Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839). He developed a system of passive and active exercises known as 'Swedish Remedial Gymnastics’ (a system of massage movements). Ling described these movements as 'effleurage', 'petrissage', 'vibration', 'friction', 'rolling' and 'slapping' (Cupping) to describe the motion of movement taking place.
