Could PNF could benefit you?

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a popular form of treatment that I've mainly used with sporting clientele. It is a form of advanced stretching that was originally used as a form of rehabilitation, but it also used as part of a pre-stretch routine.
PNF can be beneficial for those whose suffering is derived from bad postural situations, for example stiff shoulder joints resulting from sitting at a desk all day or working at computer or generally lead a sedentary life style to name a few.
It is strongly advised that a thorough warm up is completed before stretching, as body core and muscular temperature are raised thus allowing you to gain the maximum benefit from the exercise. The exercise can be achieved without a warm up, and clients have certainly felt the benefits from using the PNF technique.
If you feel that PNF could benefit you, then please do not hesitate to contact Soothe Therapy.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF) is a popular form of treatment that I’ve mainly used with sporting clientele. It is a form of advanced stretching that was originally used as a form of rehabilitation, but it can also be used as part of a pre-stretch routine.

PNF involves both the contraction and stretching of a particular muscle group and it is generally assisted by a second party [instructor] and it works, whereby, the instructor acts as form of resistance to the stretching movement. It is especially a powerful technique as a greater range of motion (flexibility) is induced as well as an increase in muscular strength. If used as part of a pre-routine greatly decreases the risk of injury occurring.

However, PNF can be beneficial for those whose suffering is derived from bad postural situations, for example stiff shoulder joints resulting from sitting at a desk all day or working at computer or generally lead a sedentary life style.

It is strongly advised that a thorough warm up is completed before stretching, as body core and muscular temperature are raised thus allowing you to gain the maximum benefit from the exercise. However, the exercise can be achieved without a warm up where a warm up is impractical (consent is required), and most clients have felt remarkable benefits by using the PNF technique.

If you feel that PNF could benefit you, then please do not hesitate to contact Soothe Therapy.
